Privacy notice
This notice explains what personal information Lancashire Floors collects through this website, what we do with it, who else handles it and the choices you have. If anything isn’t clear, just ask us in the shop or on the phone.
Who we are
Lancashire Floors runs this website. The business trades from 163-165 Accrington Road, Burnley BB11 5AL. Under data protection law we’re the “controller” of the information described here, which means we decide how it’s used.
To ask anything about your information, call us on 01282 425412, come into the shop or write to us at 163-165 Accrington Road, Burnley BB11 5AL.
What we collect
- Measure requests. The details you enter in our free-measure form: your name, your phone number, what the flooring is for, which rooms (if you tell us) and whether you’re a landlord.
- Messages. Anything you send us by phone, email or message.
- Technical information. Your device’s IP address and browser details, which every website receives when it delivers a page.
We don’t ask for sensitive information, such as health details, so please don’t send it.
The free-measure form
Your request is delivered to our inbox by Web3Forms, a service that turns website forms into emails. Like any online service, it also receives your device’s IP address when the form is sent, and handles it under its own privacy policy. Our email is provided by Google (Gmail).
The form has simple checks against spam. They don’t collect anything extra about you.
We use your details only to reply to you, arrange your free measure, give you a price and, if you go ahead, deliver and fit your flooring. We won’t add you to a mailing list or send you marketing.
Sending your request on WhatsApp
If the form shows a Send on WhatsApp button, it opens WhatsApp, which is run by Meta, with your request typed out ready to send to our WhatsApp number. It reaches us when you press send there. Your use of WhatsApp is covered by WhatsApp’s own terms and privacy policy.
The form also sends us a copy of your request by email through Web3Forms, even if you don’t send the WhatsApp message. No WhatsApp? Send by email sends your request by email only.
Visiting the website
- Hosting. Cloudflare hosts this website. Like any web host, it handles technical information such as your IP address and browser details to deliver pages and protect the site from attacks.
- Images and content. Photos and page content are delivered by Sanity, the system we use to manage the site, so your browser fetches them from Sanity’s servers, which see your IP address in the same way. We don’t put any visitor information into Sanity.
- No advertising tracking. We don’t use advertising cookies or tracking pixels, and we don’t build profiles of visitors. We count visits and button taps anonymously, as explained under “Analytics on this website” below.
Links to other services, such as Google Maps, WhatsApp and Instagram, take you to sites with their own privacy policies. The map on our website is a drawing made from OpenStreetMap data and doesn’t load anything from another service.
Why we use it
Data protection law calls these our “lawful basis”:
- Answering your request and doing the work you ask for: taking the steps you’ve asked for before a contract, and then carrying out that contract.
- Running a working, secure website, keeping out spam and counting visits anonymously: our legitimate interests.
- Keeping records the law requires, such as tax and accounting records: our legal obligations.
Who else handles your information
We don’t sell your information or share it for marketing. Apart from where the law requires us to share it, the only other organisations involved are:
- Cloudflare: website hosting and anonymous visit counts (Cloudflare Web Analytics)
- Sanity: website content and images
- Web3Forms: delivering form emails
- Google: our email (Gmail)
- Meta: WhatsApp, if you choose to contact us that way
Outside the UK
Some of these providers may process data outside the UK, including in the United States. They do so under their own safeguards for international transfers, set out in their terms and privacy policies.
How long we keep it
- Measure requests and messages (form, email, WhatsApp and phone): up to 12 months after our last contact with you.
- If you become a customer: a record of the job for as long as we need it for our tax and accounting records.
- Our service providers keep their own records, such as security logs, for limited periods under their own terms.
Keeping it safe
We use established providers and keep your details to the people who need them to deal with your request or job. No website, email or messaging service can be guaranteed completely secure, so please don’t send anything sensitive beyond what we need.
Your rights
You have the right to:
- be told how we use your information, which is what this notice is for
- ask for a copy of the information we hold about you
- have wrong or incomplete information corrected
- ask us to delete it
- ask us to limit how we use it
- object to how we use it, where we rely on our legitimate interests
- in some cases, have it sent to you or another organisation in a format that can be reused
To use any of these, call us on 01282 425412 or ask in the shop. It’s free, and we’ll reply within one month. If a request is complicated and we need longer, we’ll tell you within that month and explain why. We may need to check who you are first.
We don’t make decisions about you by automated means.
Complaints
If you’re unhappy with how we’ve handled your information, please tell us first on 01282 425412 or in the shop so we can put it right. We’ll acknowledge your complaint within 30 days and reply as soon as we can.
You can also complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO), the UK’s data protection regulator, through the ICO’s complaints page or by calling 0303 123 1113.
Changes to this notice
If we change how we use personal information, we’ll update this page. The date below shows when it last changed.
Analytics on this website
We use Cloudflare Web Analytics to count visits and see which pages are used, so we can improve the website. It doesn’t use cookies, doesn’t identify you and doesn’t follow you to other websites: we only see totals, such as how many visits a page had and which kinds of device were used. Like any web request, Cloudflare receives your IP address to deliver it, but it isn’t used to identify or track you.
We also count how often the call, WhatsApp, email and directions buttons are tapped and how many enquiries are sent from the website. Each count records only which button and which page, never who you are, your IP address, your device or what you wrote. We see only the totals.
This is only to understand how the website is used. It is never used for advertising, and we don’t keep information about individual visitors. You can turn it off on this device with the button below, which saves your choice in this browser only.
